Direction Builds Early Confidence
Leadership growth requires opportunity. When someone is learning a new skill, clarity is essential because they often have high motivation but low experience.
New team members often want to succeed but lack experience or confidence.
At this stage, leaders must provide clear direction-what needs to be done, how it should be done, and what success looks like.
Ken Blanchard emphasizes that early leadership guidance prevents confusion and frustration. In my coaching I encourage leaders to think of directions as a confidence builder not a control.
Direction is not control. It is leadership support at the beginning of growth.
