Training Program for Developmental Lenders
The developmental lending leaders training program is designed to provide developmental lenders (Community Futures, Women Enterprise Centres, Indigenous Lending Organizations) and their lending support teams of all experience levels with enhanced skill and confidence as they undertake their role in the developmental lending process.
Program Background
This proven training program provides participants with the opportunity for ongoing interaction within a group setting plus one-on-one discussions with their developmental lending trainer/coach.
This approach to learning provides participants with general to advanced knowledge of developmental lending while helping them sharpen their ability to be a confident leader in the small business community as well as a developmental lender.
The training is provided in a group setting over a relatively short time frame. One-on-one coaching allows each participant to enhance existing and newly acquired developmental lending skills.
Program Delivery
Start Date: October 15, 2024 at 9:00am Pacific Time via Zoom.
End Date: November 21, 2024.
All training is delivered using Zoom in private, secure, invitation only and password protected sessions.
Registration, payment, and course content is done through UpCloseJon web learning platform.
Training Sessions
Eleven training sessions including two financial analysis group discussion sessions are provided during the six-week program subscription period.
Training sessions run 75 minutes in length.

Meet Jon Close
Developmental Lending Coach and Mentor
Jon is passionate about helping small business leaders to strengthen their capacity for greater success. His passion for small business coaching and lending has been developed over a lending career that has spanned 40 plus years. Jon has held Senior Commercial Lending positions, worked with a provincial crown lender, and has managed an Angel Investor network. Jon is especially proud of his 30 plus years of direct association with the Community Futures program. In his various roles, Jon has coached and trained countless small businesses leaders. He has owned and operated several and has served on corporate boards of directors. Jon brings this experience and his passion for Community Futures to this CF Developmental Lending training program.
